The Garden

  • Class Dojo

Introduction

The Pavilion is part of The Garden School in Stoke Newington, Hackney and is located on a separate pleasant green site in Upper Clapton.

This is a specialist setting for ambulant and robust Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students (those deemed not vulnerable due to medical, physical or other conditions) who have a diagnosis of autism and learning difficulties.

It is best suited to those who have attained a required level of independence, communication and emotional regulation to be able to take full advantage of a wide range of learning and work related opportunities both in school and safely in the wider community.

The provision is unlikely to meet the needs of those students:

  • for whom autism is not their primary need and who have profound or severe learning difficulties who require a more sensory based curriculum and teaching approaches to support their learning and communication needs
  • who require a language rich setting in which there are many opportunities for social interaction with peers
  • who have other special educational needs e.g. physical disability, medical needs, or sensory impairment

Places are limited. Attendance at The Garden School Wordsworth Road site, does not indicate automatic transfer to the upper school and the post 16 provision at The Pavilion, Ickburgh Road site. Decisions will be taken on the basis of careful consideration of the most appropriate individual pathways to adulthood.

Admission to the school is through the statutory assessment process whereby The Garden school is named on a student's Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan.
