Foundations (EYFS)
The Early Years Foundation Stage, known as the ‘Foundations Pathway’ at The Garden, is a dynamic environment where children can both play and learn.
At the heart of our approach is the ‘unique child’ principle of the EYFS, which guides all aspects of our work at this stage. Our plans and activities are tailored to each child's development, considering their strengths, challenges, learning styles, and addressing barriers related to physical, emotional, sensory, and communication needs.
We focus on fostering skills that support each child's independence, including self-care, communication, and physical abilities. Our long-term plans ensure that children experience all aspects of the EYFS curriculum in a balanced and holistic manner. To facilitate this, we have developed our own Foundations Assessment Points document which incorporates our school intent, and both the Prime and Specific areas of the EYFS. This document helps us monitor progress and maintain a well-rounded approach to the curriculum.
