Autism Awareness Month is now over and we wanted to say a massive thank you to everybody who donated a prize to our raffle, bought a raffle ticket, sponsored our parent walk or sponsored the employees who took part in the Run Hackney half marathon.
We have so far raised £6520.00.
Sponsored Parent Walk
Our Parent 5k walk has so far helped us raise over £1800.00. Our amazing parents set off on the 26th April to raise awareness of autism and the work that our school does. Thank you to all parents who took part in the walk. Parents were due to have a picnic in the park to celebrate their achievement, but we didn’t let the bad weather put us off and instead had an indoor picnic to celebrate. Tesco kindly donated our picnic products.
Raising Awareness at Hackney Learning Trust
During Autism Awareness Week (27th March – 2nd April 2017) our pupils and staff raised awareness by selling craft and providing information on Autism (ASD) at The Learning Trust. Our pupils provided employees and passers by with leaflets and managed fundraise at the same time!
Run Hackney Half Marathon
On Sunday 30th April, 13 employees from The Garden School took to the streets of Hackney to complete 13.1 miles – even our Chair of Governors joined in. We’ve managed so far to raise £2950.00 and donations are beginners. All managed to finish the race in a very good time although there were some sore legs the next morning!
Due to the high needs of our children, many families find it difficult to find appropriate provision after school and during school holidays for their children to attend.
The money that is raised through our fundraising campaign will be used to set up a highly specialised and free after-school club. There are also plans in place to start up a subsidised provision for our pupils during the school holidays.
