Did you know over 700,000 people in the UK have autism?
Did you know that autism now affects 1 in 100 people?
HELP US RAISE MONEY FOR OUR SCHOOL BY DONATING A PRIZE FOR OUR AUTISM AWARENESS RAFFLE
Due to the high needs of our children, many families find it difficult to find appropriate provision after school and during school holidays for their children to attend.
In the run up to Autism Awareness Month (April) we are raising money to set up a highly specialised and free after-school club. There are also plans in place to start up a subsidised provision for our pupils during the school holidays.
One of our planned activities is a fundraising raffle. In the past our raffles have been very successful, and we would like to make this one our best ever!
We are asking organisations and local businesses to donate what they can so that we can attract as many raffle ticket sales as possible.
If you are able to help or need any more information please contact Gemma Courtney, the School Office Manager (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call 0207 254 8096
Jarymke Maljaars, of the University of Leuven and Psychiatric Centre of Leuven, Belgium, was welcomed to The Garden School on 13th January 2017. Jarymke delivered a one-day training course on the ComFor assessment.
The Garden is proud to have hosted only the second UK training in this assessment, which gives valuable insight and understanding about how our pupils make sense of the world around them.
Jarymke’s training day has enabled us to deepen our understanding and plan truly individualised augmentative communication systems for each of our pupils.
Feedback received so includes comments such as ‘Very useful training. Gave me a lot of ideas and enhanced my understanding. Definitely recommending to other colleagues’.
100% of those who attended and completed evaluations rated the overall day as ‘outstanding’.
